So here comes a scene in movie “Ayutham Seivom”, Movie actress Maalavika is used for Marketing Gandhi’s Principles. The movie as such is real bagwaas with a poor screenplay and fails to create an impact in the audience. But this particular scene provides some food for thought. I do believe there is nothing wrong in the strategy as even for myself it took a Munna Bhai to explain what Gandhian Principles are. Most people right now who follow Gandhi’s principles are those segment of people who pretend to follow his principles for they would want to project them different from this society, like those kind of people who hold the latest costly phone (without even using a part of the features it can offer), who buy the signature cars, wear branded shirts that display the brand (people should know they have spent so much on it), and they are never focused to really market his principles.

Now comes the question! Is it required to market Gandhi? The answer is a big yes… If you don’t they will be forgot with time. Consider LORD Vinagaga for example. He is the most popular Hindu God right now for he is the one who has changed with the times. He is one God who has been modernized so much the younger generation would like to pray. There are many of whom I know, who consider him as their invisible friend. Atleast there is something people are afraid of and motivates them to do good.

Now, the very thought of marketing Gandhi’s principles itself would be a controversial topic. Infact we live in a country where it is was not legal to hoist the national flag by ordinary men other than republic day, independence day and Gandhi’s Birthday, and there is a man Naveen Jindal who fought it for nine years. But guys let’s be practical. If Reliance did not market the way it did for mobiles, it(mobiles) would not have been so popular in India. Most of us are against it for the reason that we cannot bear the thought of it (mobiles) being used by autowalas and rikshawalas. The mobile companies got benefited for many upgraded their mobiles for this particular reason. Come on laa… Technology is for everyone… So is Gandhi…

So this is for the government (Oops! I am also part of it), if you ever think of keeping Gandhi’s principles alive, market it in the right way so the common man feels Gandhi was one among them and his principles were for them. People buy things for fancy, only when they buy they use it, only when they use they know the power, may it be for mobiles or Gandhi’s principles.
