Ravi is getting ready for his first space journey. And its not the right time to celebrate it coz the world is ending tomorrow. Ravi is a hard core businessman. He rose from his earlier days as a gambler to what he is right now, a multi billionaire and one of the few privileged ones to go to Exobase. Ravi was quite excited for his hard work all these years have atleast paid off now, an additional day of life at Exobase. Ravi is indulged in thoughts, thoughts of how he rose to this occasion.
Ravi was blessed with nothing right from his childhood. He never knew when and where has born, all he could remember is that from his age of five he was brought up in a government’s orphanage. Normally all other kids were generally adopted by someone but he was not lucky for that one too. He grew up in the orphanage in loneliness. He kept questioning God why he was not blessed with the good things in life. He would calculate how much other kids got in life as compared to him. His mentor would always tell him that all are equally treated by God. Ravi was not convinced, by any probability there was no aspect in life he enjoyed better status. In his efforts to realize himself, he found he had something very special in him. He was able to predict outcome of games of chances. Some of friends would say it is not his gift, he is able to see things because he is not biased, he has no feelings for one particular side and he has nothing to lose. In his days as a kid he was very good at predicting the outcome of cricket matches and he made money by betting with his friends. He made a lot of friends because of his peculiar talent. His loneliness was gone, for now he can have some social life with his friends most of them cricket crazy. They spent most of the time playing cricket in the day and had fun breaking Dr. Ram’s windows. Ravi had very special respect for Dr. Ram. He knew he was his sponsor and his donations had helped him to grow to what he is now today. Dr. Ram preferred to keep himself anonymous but the orphanage’s officials had to do their duty. Ravi always wanted to do something for Dr. Ram, something that he would cherish forever.
Ravi’s avatar as a businessman is itself a long story. In his younger days as a gambler betting on cricket matches he was caught by Ramesh, the orphanage’s administrator. Ramesh was more popularly known for his activities planting trees daily. Instead of punishing Ravi he taught him something that would fit his attitude and take him in the right direction. Stock Trading, initially did not interest Ravi much, but once he realized his gift is working he grew interest on that and made it his career. He was very contended with what he earned for he was one of the World’s richest men and more because he was able to sponsor all the orphaned kids on earth. Still Ravi was looking for an opportunity to gift Dr. Ram with something that he would cherish forever.
It happened one day the news of a meteor hitting earth came in the news. They also flashed the news of Dr. Ram’s research on Exobase that can hold ppl. alive for one more day. More to the news was that Dr. Ram himself was not going to make it to the Exobase. The 10 privileged members to make it to the Exobase are the top 10 bidders to it. While everyone else was bothering about their lives Ravi’s eyes was more on the Global Markets. He knew how the markets would react and quickly responded by going 100% Short. After a moment he thought if the news were fake, all his earnings would disappear in a flash. No one would respond his way, for the market was bullish and anybody would think twice to make their next move in this situation. But Ravi knew he was not rich enough to even qualify for bidding a seat to Exobase. This would be his last chance to repay Dr. Ram. Ravi thought to himself what makes him so aggressive, he remembered what his friend used to say, there is no one he loves, there is nothing to lose.
The markets responded as Ravi expected, his futures yielded enormous margins, his puts multiplied everyday. Ravi was not only able to get Dr. Ram a seat to Exobase but also to himself. Ravi wanted no one to know about this, for wanted his circle of friends to treat him the same like any other day. Even to Dr. Ram he can disclose only in the last minute. In the day while playing cricket he remembered Raghav’s comments to Dr. Ram, ‘crazy Raghav’ he thought. He is totally useless and doesn’t respect others feelings. Tomorrow is Ravi’s day, not because he can live one more day, but he can die after accomplishing his long pending duty.
